Angela Kilenyi
After a career in international finance that took her across West Africa, the Far East, and the Middle East, Angela retired at 46 to pursue art, eventually becoming a sought-after teacher of life drawing.

Angela Kilenyi initially aspired to be an artist from childhood, but a transformative trip to Paris in the 1960s redirected her interests toward other cultures. She pursued studies in French and Italian, subsequently launching a career in international finance that took her across Francophone West Africa, the Far East, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

At age 46, Angela retired from her banking career to pursue art seriously. She enrolled in a watercolour course at RACC taught by Mariella Woolff and joined a local life drawing group, progressing through Francis Bowyer’s life drawing masterclasses and successfully applying for exhibiting status with Richmond Art Society.

Her work caught the attention of gallery owner Andrew Blythe, leading to a long association with the Fountain Gallery in East Molesey. A notable commission saw artwork depicting an autoimmune condition selected for international exhibition by a major pharmaceutical company.

For 15 years, Angela conducted life drawing workshops in Teddington and Twickenham, preferring ink as her medium for its spontaneity. Recently, she has shifted focus toward landscape painting in oils.
